What is Trad Recovery?
Trad Recovery was established in February of 2023 to provide resources and community for individuals who are leaving traditionalist environments or ideologies and coming into full communion with the Catholic Church. By "traditionalism," we refer to the harmful or negative elements of a movement that is often motivated by desire for reverence, beauty, and devotion in our faith. While we support certain elements of the movement (including the Latin Mass according to the Missal of 1962, which many of our site members still attend), we at Trad Recovery are here to support those who want to remain orthodox and faithful in their Catholicism while recognizing that disobedience and schism are not compatible with being truly traditional.
We also understand that it is important to accompany those “post-Trad” who are now sorting through past difficult experiences, navigating challenging relationships, and seeking peace and joy in living out their faith. What can a vibrant and fully integrated life in the Church look like? At Trad Recovery, we want to help you discover the riches of your Catholic faith, and the unfathomable love God has for each person He has created! No one makes this journey alone. Personal connection and support is imperative to the healing and fortification each one of us needs, and we strive to provide direct and prayerful accompaniment to our community members on their path to the Father's House.

Who is Trad Recovery for?

- The recent convert or revert who fell under the influence of dissident traditionalists – authors, public figures, or internet personalities - and is now trying to reorient their understanding of the Church

- Those who were born and raised in independent and unlawful sects and who are afraid to leave for fear of potential backlash

- Those whose family members have begun following (or are still following) unapproved traditionalist groups, and who do not know how to mend the rift in their family

- Those who struggle with their faith after traumatic experiences in traditionalist environments, such as being educated on messages from private revelations and doomsday conspiracies over the Gospel of Jesus Christ, being formed in fundamentalist purity culture, or suffering from scrupulosity and anxiety

- Those in need of healing after abuse suffered in traditionalist environments, whether physical, sexual, mental, emotional, or spiritual

- Those trying to provide answers to their friends or family members who have accepted the traditionalist ideology over the teachings of the Church

- Those in a ministerial capacity seeking to understand how to form souls in discernment that they might be able to recognize and avoid falling under the influence of dissenting &/or schismatic traditionalist groups, as well as how to help and support those who have been negatively affected

- Anyone else who has been influenced by this movement to suspect, distrust, or reject the Catholic Church and her authority, especially with regard to the declarations of the Second Vatican Council and the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite
